The Procedure

To do Shirodhara, the patient has to lie down on their back on a comfortable table specifically unique for this treatment. Closing the eyes and enjoying a stream of warm oil flowing evenly over the forehead. It should be in absolute silence leading to deep relaxation and a state of rest of mind and body in balance.The oils for shirodhara are unique to the doshas.

A typical Shirodhara session would last 30 to 60 minutes. But, the number and duration of sessions may vary. Accordingly, the Ayurvedic practitioner determines this from the patient’s age, constitution, dosha status and the severity of the disease.
